The Assorted Family Circle were formed by pianist and songwriter Ewen Moore, and vocalist Jonathan Rallings in 2005. The band's unconventional approach to making music has involved an ethos of focussing on the best treatment of a song, rather than worrying too much on sticking with any one genre. This makes their output rather eclectic taking in, variously - rock, goth, chanson, ska, electronica, musicals - but hopefully with a little something for everyone, just like the biscuit collection from which they take their name.

Working with dozens of musicians since their formation, the AFC eventually settled as a six-piece in 2009 joined by Holly Harris (violin), Terry Boyce (Bass), Andy Howard (Guitars) and Duncan Moore (Drums).

Piano Vocal, their third full-length album, is a more consistent collection of intimate narrative snapshots in the style of Ben Folds or Joni Mitchell, each focussed around the central pairing of Moore's piano and Rallings' voice with additional contributions of colour from the rest of the band.
